Holy Week is the week before the Easter Sunday. The purpose of this week is to reenact and participate in the passion of Jesus Christ. During this week, there are celebrations everywhere, especially in the capital city: Caracas. There are performances of the betrayal of Jesus and a huge procession from Basilica de Santa Teresa to Plaza Caracas. Finally, the week ends with ritual burning of the gigantic effigy of Judas because he betrayed Jesus.

La Semana Santa es la semana antes del Domingo de Pascua. El propósito de la semana es recrear y participar en la pasión de Cristo. Durante esta semana, hay celebraciones en todo el país, especialmente en la ciudad capital: Caracas. Hay actuaciones de la traición a Jesús y una gran procesión desde la Basílica de Santa Teresa hasta la Plaza Caracas. Finalmente, la semana termina con un ritual en el que se quema una efigie gigantesca de Judas por haber traicionado a Jesús.
